Jenkins Foundation receives VHCF Partner Award
July 31, 2019
In recognition of the Jenkins Foundation’s support in expanding Medicaid coverage, the organization was honored with a Virginia Health Care Foundation (VHCF) Partner Award at the annual VHCF Heroes in Health Care event on June 25.
At the beginning of 2019, an estimated 400,000 low-income Virginians became newly eligible for Medicaid. To facilitate increased Medicaid enrollment, the Jenkins Foundation provided grant funding to support SignUpNow training workshops, which educate community-based organizations on how to assist individuals and families signing up for Medicaid for the first time. As previously uninsured patients are enrolled, new slots become available for uninsured patients at community health clinics, thereby ensuring that more Virginia residents have access to quality health care.
“VHCF’s Partner Awards recognize the generosity and support of these important contributors to VCHF’s work. The synergy created by this public/private approach is at the heart of VHCF’s success,” said Kimberly Separ, Fund Development Manager for VHCF.
